Many of our paddling trips sold out last year so be sure to sign up early.
We’re excited to bring you another year of trips with something for everyone – snorkeling, history, family fun, camping, and excitement!
RiverPalooza is a season-long annual event designed to provide families and river enthusiasts with memorable on-the-water experiences that build a deep and enduring appreciation for our rivers. The event raises awareness for the many roles the Potomac & Shenandoah rivers play: as recreational destinations that inspire and delight, as habitats for an amazing assortment of wildlife, and as windows into our nation’s history. The rivers are also economic drivers for tourism and development, and the source of drinking water for 6 million residents.
No other event of its kind offers as wide a range of on-the-water and paddling events. RiverPalooza’s canoe outings, fishing excursions, camping trips, kayak adventures, snorkeling, and floats for all skill levels make it a popular event for all ages. From rare opportunities to explore the historic water trails that Captain John Smith first voyaged in the early 1600s, to the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail that follows the paths explored by George Washington, these trips offer a series of unique events that inspire a sense of stewardship and reverence for the Potomac watershed.

Join us in protecting and caring for the Potomac watershed!
Potomac Riverkeeper Network (PRKN) runs RiverPalooza in collaboration with sponsors and partners—including the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and river outfitters—with a single goal in mind: the more people experience and enjoy our rivers, the more they will value them.
RioPalooza is a full day of family fun on the water, with activities led in both Spanish and English, designed to reach our friends in the Latino community and encourage them to explore and enjoy their nearby rivers.
PRKN envisions a day when the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers, and all their tributaries, are restored to healthy and safe resources for the people, plants, and animals that depend on them.
The Potomac Riverkeeper Network (PRKN) is the primary regional entity working to stop pollution in the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers since 2003. Riverkeepers serves as the “watchdog” and defender of our rivers, taking action to reduce known pollution sources, enforcing and improving laws to reduce pollution, and, to strengthen grassroots advocacy, they develop and provide opportunities for river education, access, and recreation.
