Anthony (Tony) Wu joins us as paddler (past U.S. Canoe & Kayak Marathon Team member) and recent power boater on the Potomac, with experience in spacecraft, submarines, and submersibles. He has been a Space Shuttle engineer, helped modify nuclear submarines, led in developing advanced unmanned airborne and space vehicles, and occasionally builds his seaplane. Tony brings his knowledge of unmanned vehicles and sensing technologies to better monitor events such as cyanotoxin HABs and storm runoff into the Potomac. He, and his wife Lisa, the coordinator of PRKN’s water quality monitoring program, thrive in maritime settings,and are outfitting their own USCG-registered research vessel as well as creating marine destinations on the Atlantic coast, and possibly the Chesapeake Bay.
