Frank Filipy

Frank Filipy joins our board after having already given years of service as a volunteer, particularly in the Shenandoah Valley as a supporter of Mark Frondorf, Shenandoah Riverkeeper.

Frank, and his equally dedicated wife, Lisa, live in Luray, VA. He has a B.S. degree in biology From James Madison University and an M.S. degree in Entomology and Applied Ecology from the University of Delaware.

He began his environmental career with Virginia’s Department of Agriculture where worked on a variety of regulatory programs including gypsy moth survey, quarantine and control, nursery, apiary and pesticide inspections. He also conducted inspections and investigations regarding enforcement of the VA Pesticide Control Act and Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act. His professional excellence earned him several awards from the Environmental Protection Agency for his outstanding work.

As a valuable leader and volunteer for us, he has been a driving force in fishing education for RioPalooza, a key participant and coordinator for Shenandoah Riverkeeper’s Trash Free Shenandoah campaign, and has been on the Host Committee and Sponsor for our Annual Gala.

Frank is selfless with his time, knowledge, and experience and we look forward to his insights to the Board.
