Alexandria Required to Stop Dumping Sewage in Potomac River by 2025.

“By signing into law a bill requiring the city of Alexandria to make long overdue repairs to its outdated sewer infrastructure by 2025, Governor McAuliffe has set a firm but reasonable deadline for ending Alexandria’s 200 year history of dumping raw sewage into our nation’s river. This is a major milestone for improving water quality and protecting public health for people recreating in the Potomac River. We are grateful for the action taken by the Governor today, and applaud Senators Surovell and Stuart and Delegate Lingamfelter for their leadership,” said Dean Naujoks, Potomac Riverkeeper. “We commend the Governor for showing the courage to stand up for the Potomac River.”
