RIVERPALOOZA 2023

Paddle, Pride, and Paw Paw – Join the Fun on the Potomac & Shenandoah!

RiverPalooza is excited to announce our 2023 lineup of on-the-water experiences for families and river enthusiasts. This year marks our first DC Pride Paddle, a celebration of diversity and inclusivity on the water. Additionally, we are bringing back an old favorite with the Paw Paw Bends Camping Trip.

Our events are designed to build a deep and enduring appreciation for the Potomac & Shenandoah rivers. These rivers provide recreational opportunities, habitats for wildlife, and offer glimpses into our nation’s history. They also serve as economic drivers for tourism and development, and provide drinking water for 6 million residents.

Riverpalooza events offer something for everyone, with kayaking adventures, snorkeling, birding, and floats for all skill levels. Join us for a cultural paddle on Mattawoman Creek, known for its exceptional biodiversity, or hit up the exhilarating white water rapids of historic Harpers Ferry. Don’t miss out on these unique and memorable on-the-water experiences!

¡ÚNASE A NOSOTROS PARA PROTEGER Y CUIDAR LA CUENCA DEL POTOMAC!

RiverPalooza is a collaborative effort between the Potomac Riverkeeper Network (PRKN), sponsors and partners such as the U.S. Forest Service, and river outfitters. Their ultimate goal is to increase public appreciation of the rivers by promoting enjoyable river experiences.

RioPalooza, which features music by Grammy-award winner Mister G, is a full day of bilingual family fun on the water, designed to engage both Spanish and English speakers with a variety of activities.

PRKN envisions a future where the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers, along with their tributaries, are restored to a healthy and safe state for all the plants, animals, and people that depend on them. Since 2003, the organization’s Riverkeepers have been working tirelessly to prevent pollution in the rivers. Their role as watchdogs involves identifying and stopping pollution sources, advocating for improved pollution laws, and collaborating with communities across the watershed to provide educational and recreational opportunities.
