Water Wednesday with Chris Brown and Dean Naujoks, Potomac Riverkeeper
Join our Potomac Riverkeeper, Dean Naujoks, and Chris Brown, author of the new book, “Washington Canoe Club (Images of America)” for a special Water Wednesday on January 27th at 12PM.
Washington Canoe Club and the Potomac River
Date: January 27
Time: 12PM – 1PM
Chris Brown will discuss his newly released pictorial history of the Washington Canoe Club. His just-published book, three years in the making and recently reviewed in the Washington Post, includes more than 200 vintage photos and scores of stories about the unique Club and Boathouse on the Georgetown riverfront near Key Bridge. Chris will give background into his massive research project into the 120-year-old club, and he’ll reveal its important role in competitive and recreational boating in Washington and the nation.
Dean Naujoks will discuss Potomac Riverkeeper Network’s ‘Swimmable Potomac’ Campaign and when it’s actually safe to get in the water to swim or row. Plus, learn how Dean and his trained volunteer citizen scientists safely sample and test from expanded locations along the Potomac. He’ll tell about the process and how each week’s results are posted on Water Reporter and our Facebook page. Learn how it works – and how to participate this year!
