Paddle/Shoreline Cleanup at Belle Haven Marina

river cleanup

Join Potomac Riverkeeper Network (PRKN) in our mission to support a Trash-Free Potomac!

WE provide gloves, bags and grabbers/trash pickers.
YOU bring your enthusiasm for outdoor activities and good causes!
You are welcome to bring your kayak, boat, or paddle board.
Boat rentals are available at Belle Haven Marina, but if you are not a paddler you still can reach the shore from the trail along the river.

**Due to protected shorebird nesting season, on the water capacity in the National Park land surrounding Belle Haven Marina is limited to 3 vessels at a time so we will be sending out paddling volunteers in shifts, but there will be plenty of opportunities along the trails throughout the marsh as well to do your park, pick up trash, and enjoy the scenery when you’re not on the water! **

If you plan on entering the water:

  • Register Here
  • Bring your vessel
  • Be prepared and dress up accordingly
  • Bring an extra set of clothes and a towel in case you fall
  • Weather and tide forecast will be updated closer to the event

Sign in starts at 9:00 am at the Marina. Parking is available at Belle Haven Park. The event wraps up at 11:30 AM.

***Update regarding social distancing***

Following the orders from the governors of Maryland and Virginia and the CDC, we will be following safe social distancing practices at our river cleanup events. We are extending the registration time for our cleanups to be one hour long, starting 30 minutes before the scheduled event start time to prevent overcrowding at the registration table. Masks must be worn at the registration table. We will be taking steps to minimize contact throughout the event. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.
