wednesday, June 15th: Confluence Paddle - Millville to Harpers Ferry Adventure Center
in Purcellville, VA
Over a dozen hard-core adrenaline junkies joined all 3 Riverkeepers to run the confluence stretch of the Shenandoah and Potomac, putting in at Millville and running some fun white water down to the Harpers Ferry Adventure Center (just below the Rt. 340 bridge). This beautiful scenic paddle took us past Harpers Ferry National Historical Park down through Bull Falls, the Staircase, Mad Dog and White Horse Rapids--some of the biggest whitewater on the Shenandoah and Potomac River. It was a blast!!
After we dried off and caught our breath, we went over to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park for our very own talk by one of the Park Rangers as they explain the critical role that the town and the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers played in the development and advancement of our country.
